Janet Spencer King has been an editor and writer for both magazines and books for more than 30 years. She was the founding editor and editor-in-chief of Working Parents Magazine and for ten years the editor-in-chief of Mothers Today Magazine. As an article writer she has published more than one hundred stories in major national magazines on topics including, among others, health, fitness, personal development, family dynamics, parenting, and personal relationships. Janet has authored or co-authored three books. Her first book, Taking the Blues Out of Postpartum, was published by Villard Books (Random House). She was the co-author of The Single Parent Family: Living Happily in a Changing World, published by Crown Publishers, and Getting Your Child into College, with St. Martin’s Press. Additionally she contributed a number of chapters to three other books. For a time Janet was also a literary agent representing both works of fiction and non-fiction; she negotiated sales to Crown, Penguin Putnam, Tarcher, St. Martin’s Press and others. As part of her editorial work, Janet has spoken at university workshops on aspects of writing for publication; she has also spoken on issues of parenting, family dynamics and relationships at various convocations around the country. Today Janet, who is a certified holistic health/nutrition counselor, is popular as a speaker on health and wellness. With extensive experience in many areas of publishing, Janet offers a wide range of literary services. She continues to be active as a writer for print and web content, and she teams with authors or would-be authors as a co-author or ghostwriter. As an editor Janet evaluates and critiques book ideas, proposals and manuscripts, and guides writers through the complex process of preparing book proposals and manuscript development. |
